IRS Rebate Discrepancies

I hope that you have had a very safe and wonderful summer. Just wanted to take time to share with you a trend that I have noticed in recent months concerning tax returns and the covid stimulus payouts. We have received some IRS notices from several clients regarding discrepancies with these payments. If you happen to receive a letter from the IRS referencing the recovery rebate credit, I am providing below some steps to take to resolve this matter. There is a way for you to review with the IRS how much stimulus you should have received with each round that was issued.

  1. Go to the
  2. Click on view your account
  3. Click on log into your online account
  4. Click create account
  5. Then click continue
  6. Follow instructions
  7. Once inside your account, click on view tax records and stroll down to see Stimulus payout payments.
  8. Compare the IRS tax records with what you reported to us that you received
